I loved how it did not ever feel crowded on the beach at any time; there was ample space for everyone. I loved how there were 2 beaches to choose from, both private. For example, if you stay in the Mambo beach area, it is very crowded. If you go to Aruba and stay in the Palm Beach area, you will have people who are not paying to stay at your hotel walking through your facilities, beach, and pool area, even using your bar and restaurants you are paying for. Avila is nice because it felt like it was truly our home away from home. The bar tenders, specifically Jose, were very kind. Sheldon was also attentive. Jesus was not the friendliest though.

We had booked a Preferred Room in the Octagon wing. Prior to arrival I had asked for a room on a higher floor with a nice view. Upon check-in we were upgraded to a Deluxe Room in the Octagon wing. Room 316 was a corner room with a nice sea/pool and courtyard view. The room was spotless and very large. Room had a decent size fridge, a nice coffee machine and a kettle. Coffee was replenished daily. Dishes were also provided. Nice ice machine in the building to refill our water bottles. We ate at the Blues Restaurant on our first night- excellent burger! We had the buffet breakfast on one occasion (25 USD pp) and everything we had was very fresh and good. Good coffee/juices/mimosas included. We enjoyed the beach further away from the pool since it was quieter and less crammed. We never had an issue getting a hut for shade. Beach and grounds of the hotel are all very well kept and clean. All our interactions with staff were positive and many would say to us : welcome home! A short walking distance from the hotel (probably less than 200m) there are many nice restaurant options. Walking to Punda is also only about 15mins and safe. We rented a car for 3 days and parking at the hotel was free and never an issue. Check out is noon but they do keep your luggage and allow you to reserve a time in a shower room to freshen up before heading to the airport.

Sometimes pictures can be deceiving when searching for hotels but seeing is believing folks! The view really is that beautiful. I didn’t get to eat at the Blue restaurant which was disappointing but there was a few restaurants conveniently down the street. Tips: try to schedule a private ride transfer to and from airport with Avila directly! They are pretty good at replying to messages & helping out. I made the mistake of getting a airport taxi to the hotel & it was not cheap! I used their company on the way back and it was significantly cheaper! Must do: If you don’t mind walking… it’s like a 15/20min direct walk to the big “Curaçao” sign, souvenir shops and Queen Emma’s Bridge!!! What I love most about the hotel was the views and the beach I was surprise it wasn’t very busy considering I came on a Saturday but I loved having the beach temporarily to myself lol. I didn't have full breakfast only a fruit plate but seem like there was a lot to offer. The pool was great! The view from the tower is exceptional!

Extremely helpful, friendly and professional staff - everywhere: front desk, cleaning and maintenance staff, food service, and waitress/waiters. Wonderful! Great people! The closeness to two lovely beaches. The availability to sunscreen and bug spray. Appreciate the shuttle downtown. Appreciate the recycling bins and hotel's work for the environment.

The property was beautiful with great beach front views and accessibility. The staff was warm, friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and well maintained. Our only complaint was there seemed to be a foul smell coming from the shower drain possible sewage system that was strong every morning. The food at the breakfast buffet and Blues was tasty and reasonably priced. The hotel is very quiet and relaxing, great for couples if you don't want a party atmosphere. The Avila is conveniently located in walking distance from many restaurants, convenience stores and a mini market. The downtown area is a further walk away or you can catch a cab. Remember to bring a power converter for outlets, although the front desk was able to provide us with them.

Loved the location of the resort, being close to the town and amongst the local village. The room was excellent and the private beach was very relaxing, with many loungers for guests to use.

The rooms face the three beaches, so everyone has at least a partial Caribbean view. The rooms have balconies, and spending your entire stay on the balcony with a bottle of wine would be great in itself, but the swimming and snorkeling are fantastic as are the beaches. The three beaches and pool are gorgeous. The swimming areas in the Caribbean are enclosed by stones; without the enclosure the water is too rough to swim. With the enclosures, the swimming is a delight. the water is always warm, blue or green, and transparent. The snorkeling is wonderful; there are loads of fish. It's like a tropical fish tank. The Pen restaurant, which serves a breakfast buffet, lunches, etc. is good, while the Blues Restaurant, which is open for dinner, is very good. There is live music a few nights a week, and it's great. The hotel is a 20-minute walk to downtown Willemstad. On the way you pass maybe a dozen restaurants and cafes, all of which are good to excellent. If you want a break from the very good breakfast buffet at the Avila, there are several great coffee sops nearby, like La Reina, which is a must to try at least once. Downtown Willemstad is a delight to explore, and the Renaissance Mall in Otraband, across the charming Queen Emma Bridge, is wonderful and worth multiple visits. The service at the Avila is friendly and supportive, and everyone is warm. That is true of Curacao in general, by the way. The hotel has a lot of soul, and it is far preferable to the chains. I've stayed in maybe 30 or 40 hotels and resorts in the past three years, and the Avila is among the best one or two. There is no room service. The rooms are comfortable and are cleaned each day.

One of the best hotels in Curacao! Location is perfect, by the sea with a private beach (split into 2 sections and protected from the open sea by a rock wall, so very calm waters to enjoy a swim), and within walking distance of Willemstad (15-20 mins). It’s also easy to get to other popular locations (e.g. Mambo Beach or Jan Thiel) easily and quickly by taxi. There are many restaurants nearby and the hotel itself also has 2 good restaurants with amazing sea views and good quality food. Food can also be served on the beach during lunch time.
